Back in 1981, five grads from Tehran University got together and founded Zener Engineering Company. In the midst of the Iran-Iraq war and constant power outages, they came up with surge protectors for household appliances like refrigerators and TVs. Fast forward to 1983, they rolled out a new product to safeguard devices with 3-phase motors.

Throughout the 80s, Zener was all about making surge protectors and industrial panels. With computers becoming a big deal in government offices and banks, uninterrupted power became crucial. In 1989, we designed and launched Iran's first offline UPS, the Zener UPS, with a production range up to 5 kVA.

As the market grew, our after-sales service department also expanded rapidly. We started importing essential electronic components for UPS production and later expanded to high-power industrial UPS, sealed lead-acid batteries, and diesel generators. By 1994, we helped establish the UPS Manufacturer’s Association of IRAN.

From 2000 to 2009, Zener secured exclusive business partnerships with well-known international brands to supply UPS, batteries, and generator sets. including with famous companies such as Riello and Aros of Italy, Ablerex of Taiwan, Liebert of United States, Newmax and Rocket of South Korea and PowerCo of England. In 2009, we formed a renewable energy systems department and conducted numerous research projects. Zener is now officially certified by top brands to provide solar panels, inverters, solar chargers, and related products. In 2011, we joined the Iran Solar Industry Association, Iran Electrical Syndicate, and Iran-Italy Chamber of Commerce. We achieved ISO 9001:2008 quality management system certification in 2013.

After obtaining an operating license and production certificate, Zener's factory resumed UPS and related equipment production. In 2016, the single-phase and three-phase UPS production lines were relaunched. To meet domestic market demands, the production line space was expanded, and necessary machinery was acquired. In 2019, the sealed lead-acid battery production line reached the operational stage.
